After registering for virtual programs, parents are encouraged to help their child/children prepare for their scheduled Zoom session by taking some time to introduce them to Zoom and the basic functions where necessary. This foundation will help us provide remote technical support to children throughout the virtual sessions. Each session will have a unique Zoom link that will be emailed to parents a day or two before the scheduled session.

Here is a list of important points to consider when preparing your learning space at home:

  • Please set up the device such as a laptop, desktop computer or a tablet as well as a webcam and microphone for the Zoom session. Your space should have a flat surface and lots of light.
  • This learning space may at times get messy, as we may use substances such as glue and water. Newspaper or plastic tablecloths are good options for covering and protecting flat surfaces.
  • Please ensure that there is a recycling bin or trash can close by, as we will be scheduling some time for clean-up at the end of our Zoom sessions.
  • Ensure that your space is near an outlet if we are using a low temperature hot glue gun.
  • We recommend that your child/children have a water bottle with a lid/closure for drinking, to ensure hydration and to minimize time away from the webcam.
