The Black Youth in STEM program has become a catalyst for change, addressing key challenges faced by Black and racialized youth in their academic journeys. Many of these students experience barriers to pursuing STEM, influenced by the underrepresentation of Black individuals in the field and limited access to relatable role models. By providing consistent access to high-quality, free STEM education, the program not only alleviates these barriers but also enhances students' confidence in their academic abilities. Collaborative efforts with Queen's University departments and local museums have created rich, hands-on learning experiences that resonate deeply with participants, inspiring them to explore and excel in STEM fields.
